Klaytn is an EVM layer1 chain designed to be practical and reliable.

To add KLAY to a Web3 crypto wallet, there are two different ways you can use to add Klaytn to your MetaMask account.

These way to safely add Klaytn (KLAY) to MetaMask are as follows:

1. Manually adding Klaytn using RPC details
2. Adding Klaytn through Chainlist platform.

Adding Klaytn to MetaMask with RPC detail

Any network that you want to add to your MetaMask wallet requires that you to put in the network details such as the Chain ID, RPC URL etc.

To add the Klaytn network to your wallet, sign-in to your MetaMask account, then copy and paste the following details into the network settings.

Klaytn mainnet (Cypress) info:

Network Name: Klaytn Mainnet
New RPC URL: https://public-node-api.klaytnapi.com/v1/cypress
Chain ID: 8217
Currency Symbol: KLAY
Block Explorer URL: https://scope.klaytn.com

Klaytn testnet (Baobab) chain info:

Network Name: Klaytn Baobab
New RPC URL: https://api.baobab.klaytn.net:8651 (Default: http://localhost:8551)
Chain ID: 1001
Currency Symbol: KLAY
Block Explorer URL: https://baobab.scope.klaytn.com/

Once you add these details, you will be redirected to the MetaMask network screen.

You can then copy your wallet address and start transferring funds, but remember to only transfer the funds that the network supports.

Adding Klaytn to MetaMask using Chainlist

If the process above seem too technical, you can use these steps below to add Klaytn chain network to your MetaMask.

1. Open your MetaMask wallet
2. Go-to Chainlist platform
3. Searck for ‘Klaytn’ network
4. Click on ‘Connect Wallet’
5. Now click on ‘Add to MetaMask’
6. Click ‘Approve’ on the wallet popup
7. Then switch network to Klaytn.

As soon as you’re through with this process, you will see that you can then use Klaytn chain to transfer KLAY token.
